KNA A section of Nyandarua residents yesterday expressed displeasure over the recent visit by the Deputy President William Ruto to the county, saying it offered a platform for abuse and disrespect.
The residents under the Nyandarua County’s Growth Wananchi Forum umbrella, accused a section of leaders who had accompanied the Deputy President during his Sunday tour to the region of insulting elected leaders from the county, terming it as fuel for violence.
While demanding an apology, they said that politics of insult was putting the country at risk of facing violence at the time the country was heading to General Elections next year.
“Nyandarua community has taken issue with the insults to our governor as insults directed to all of us who elected them. We put on notice all visitors who come to Nyandarua with disrespectful intentions as well as disrespectful local leaders, that we shall not anymore condone any form of insult. We shall take all measures to safeguard our dignity,” noted Ng’ang’a Ndung’u, during a protest in Ol Kalou town.
DP Ruto was in the company of 25 members of Parliament allied to him, with MPs Moses Kuria(Gatundu), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Silvanus Osoro (South Mugirango) and former Senator Isaac Mwaura, taking the podium to allegedly discredit Governor Francis Kimemia.
The leaders who endorsed area Woman Representative Faith Gitau for the Nyandarua Gubernatorial seat, lashed out at Kimemia’s administration for failing to deliver, urging him to give way for Gitau.
