Police urges women to report ruthless husbands

KNA    Kisii County Police Commander, Francis Kooli, has advised women not to  persevere and continue to live with ruthless husbands without reporting violence meted on them and family  to the authorities for help.

This follows an incident where a father assaulted his four-year old son at Maili-Mbili in Nyaribari Chache Sub-county of Kisii on Sunday.

Speaking at a Kisii hospital where he visited the child, Kooli urged women to prioritise the safety of their children and report their husbands whenever they commit such cases for immediate action.

“The law does not allow parents to beat their children, instead they are to correct them by talking to them. Let children grow up as they should, without having to pretend to be what their parents want them to be. It’s only through doing so that correcting kids will be meaningful,” said Kooli.

The incident happened on Sunday where the father of the child, Victor Rabuko, allegedly beat up the victim for wetting the bed, leaving him with fractures on his left arm.

The mother of the child who sought anonymity confessed that her child complained of pain in the left arm three days after the incident when she was bathing him and rushed him to the hospital on Wednesday where he is receiving treatment.

Kooli also confirmed that the child’s father has been arrested and he will be arraigned in court on Friday to answer the charges for serious assault.
