Police in Homa Bay have launched investigations into an assault of a Member of County Assembly (MCA) representing Kanyadoto Ward in Ndhiwa Constituency.
Walter Muok who is a sitting MCA was reportedly attacked with a blunt object at his house in Rodikopany trading centre leaving him with severe injuries on his face.
Speaking to KNA, his brother David Muok, narrated that the incident occurred at around 3am in the morning and that they were the only ones in the house during the attack.
“The night was peaceful until I heard a wailing voice from my brother’s room after which I rushed and found him bleeding profusely, but by then no one was within the vicinity of the house, “said Muok.
Muok added that they immediately rushed the MCA to one of the private hospitals within Homa Bay Town where he is currently receiving treatment. He is still not sure whether the cause of the attack was thuggery or politically instigated.
After reporting the incident, the police while inspecting the scene found a stone on his bed. “We also found a stone on my brother’s bed amid a pool of blood that he shed. I think that is the object they used to hit him next to the eye,” said the brother.
According to Juma Awuor, an MCA Homa Bay East Ward, his colleague might have been attacked following the recent wrangles that have been going on in the assembly where the former Majority Leader has been in the forefront in defending his fellow members.
He condemned the incident and called upon the relevant authorities to hasten their investigation to bring the assailants to book.
On the other hand, the Homa Bay Sub-County Police commander Sammy Koskey said that the police were following crucial leads and they will ensure that the assailants face the law
