KNA The Government has deployed more police officers to different parts of the vast Mandera County in efforts to root out Al-Shabaab insurgents from the region.
Mandera County Commissioner Onesmus Kyatha however maintained that war against the terror group required community support as well as other peace actors.
Kyatha made the remarks as he chaired the area peace actors meeting at a Mandera hotel over the weekend to discuss prevailing security issues in the region. He acknowledged that government efforts to curb insecurity in Mandera was bearing fruits.
Various security actors in attendance appreciated efforts put in by the government to overcome insecurity challenge and vowed to work as a team in order to achieve and maintain peace.
Mandera county government has on the other hand promised to employ more Police reservists (KPR) to be deployed to Takaba and Banisa sub-counties.
The security actors’ team includes the County Commissioner, County Secretary Abdinur Maalim Hussein, County executive members for Roads and Public Works Ahmed Sheikh, County chief Officer Conflict Management Cohesion and Integration Husein Yussuf and elders from different clans.
