A pedestrian died on the spot after he was hit by a motorcycle at Enoosaen area along Lolgorian- Game- Kehancha road in Trans Mara West Sub County Friday.
Narok County Police commander John Kizito said the 7am accident occurred when the deceased Lemiyan Wilson was crossing the road when he was hit by a Honda motorcycle registration number KMFU 309K.
According to the police, the motorcycle that was moving from Lolgorian towards Game direction was driven by 25 years old Collins Sakaja and had one pillion on board at the time of the accident.
“On reaching the point of the accident, the motorcycle hit the pedestrian who fell on the road. As a result of the impact, the pedestrian died on the spot while the rider and the pillion sustained serious injuries,” he said.
The rider and the pillion were rushed to Kehancha sub county hospital for treatment in serious condition while the body of the deceased was moved to Kegonga hospital mortuary for preservation awaiting postmortem.
The motorcycle was detained at the Game police post awaiting inspection.
The county police boss called on residents to be observant while crossing the road asking them to follow the traditional rule of ‘look right, look left, look right again’ and cross the road if it is clear.
“We should all be observant to reduce cases of road accidents that have been swelling in the recent past. Both motorists and pedestrians should be careful not to cause an accident,” he said.
