NARC-Kenya’s Muriithi Kagai withdraws from Kirinyaga race; backs Charles Kibiru of Jubilee

Just nine days to the much anticipated 9th August 2022 polls, the race for Kirinyaga governorship has taken an interesting turn after two rival camps within Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition resolved their differences and settled on one candidate for the seat.

Following intense deliberations and negotiations involving key stakeholders in the county, NARC~Kenya candidate Muriithi Kagai has shelved his bid and instead resolved to support Charles Kibiru CK of Jubilee.

Kibiru, the outgoing Senator will now be battling it out to be the next county boss with incumbent Anne Waiguru of UDA and Wangui Ngirici (Independent) who are the top contenders in the race.

The decision to have a single Azimio candidate in the county will no doubt alter the equation of the Kirinyaga race as the polls election draw closer.

Teams from both camps expressed optimism that they will now be able to clinch the seat.

“This decision came after a vigorous exercise during which both camps engaged constructively. We now have confidence that the Azimio Candidate will now floor the UDA and Independent candidates in the county,” one of the Azimio supporters told The County.
