Mwala DCC urges politicians to embrace peace ahead of elections

Mwala Deputy County Commissioner David Tegutwa has asked politicians to embrace peace ahead of the August general election.

Tegutwa said those seeking elective positions should tone down their political rhetoric to avoid plunging the country into chaos.

“As a country we should endeavor to campaign, vote and celebrate the results of the elections in peace. Politicians should stop trading insults and instead sell their manifestos to the electorate,” said the DCC.

Speaking when he launched the tree planting season at Uuni forest, Tegutwa also warned politicians against dividing Kenyans along their tribal lines.

He noted that it was time, that Kenyans disassociated tribe from politics.

“Kenyans co-exist together as neighbours all through, only for them to be divided along tribal lines during electioneering period,” added Tegutwa.

The DCC also warned the youth against being incited by politicians to cause violence.

On 100 percent transition for learners from class eight to Form one, the DCC directed chiefs and their assistants to ensure that all candidates who sat for the KCPE join form one.

“The government is committed to ensure that every pupil regardless of whether they have school fees or not join form one,” said the DCC.
