Mung’aro takes a joy ride on title deeds to boost his gubernatorial campaigns in Kilifi

Kilifi gubernatorial aspirant Gideon Maitha Mungaro this week took a joy ride on the ongoing distribution of title deeds by the government in Kilifi County to boost his gubernatorial campaign saying he is the one who fought for the processing of the documents when he worked as the Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) for lands in the outgoing government.

On Monday, the former lands CAS accompanied Kilifi County Commissioner Kutswa Olaka to oversee the distribution of over 12,000 title deeds in Ganze, Rabai, and Kilifi South sub-counties where he used the opportunity to tell residents that he fought for their lands and managed to produce thousands of title deeds within three years of duty in the lands office.

Mung’aro took pride in the land ownership achievements made by President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration explaining that he joined the County Commissioner in the distribution exercise because he took part in the process.

“You know I’m no longer with the Ministry but I have come to witness because this is part of the work I did when I was in the lands office. After being appointed by the President as the deputy minister in the Ministry of Land, I called all the members of parliament from the coast, sat down with them and told them that I had an agenda,” he explained.

“I told them that we must use the opportunity given to us. We met with Teddy and all the MPs from Lamu to Lungalunga and Taita. We have processed many title deeds for this coast region, Ganze being one of them as witnessed in the distribution exercises presided over by the County Commissioner,” he added.

During his address to the residents in different title deed issuing events, he pleaded with them to vote for him as the next governor since he already demonstrated his commitment to solving their land problems.

“I want to tell the people of Ganze not to play gossip politics. Ganze has many problems that require someone who will be speaking with his soul and ready to do something for them. Yes, I took my time when I was at lands to ensure that our people get their rights to own land,” he said.

Mung’aro of ODM party is facing stiff competition to win the governor seat from George Kithi, a PAA party candidate associated with the outgoing Kilifi governor Amason Kingi and Aisha Jumwa of UDA party led by deputy president William Ruto.
