KNA Police in Kitengela Kajiado County, are looking for a man who allegedly killed his wife during a domestic squabble and hid her body inside their house in Noonkopir estate.
The body of Ann Njeri was found hidden under her bed in their rental house Wednesday morning by her sister Mary Nyokabi who had gone to look for her after trying to reach her on phone in vain.
She said when she reached the house it was locked from the outside but a pungent smell emanating from the inside prompted her to inform neighbors and Nyumba Kumi elders who broke into the house and discovered her sister’s body under the bed.
Njeri’s body was naked and had marks with a mop inserted inside her private parts.
Nyokabi said Njeri, who had recently reunited with her husband after separating due to domestic squabbles was last seen on Friday 23rd July.
She added that Njeri’s husband had threatened to kill her severally and they had even separated for over a year before getting back together.
Nyumba Kumi elder Clement Njuge noted that the couple who have a three-year-old son, were often embroiled in domestic squabbles and he had been called severally to advise them.
“Njeri and her husband were always fighting. She had even left him for a year before coming back two months ago but they still continued fighting constantly,” he said.
A shocked Njuge urged couples to avoid resorting to violence whenever they have marital issues. According to neighbors, Njeri’s husband was last seen on Friday leaving with his son to an unknown location.
Isinya Sub-county police commander Charles Chepkonga said preliminary investigations show that the woman whose body had started decomposing might have been strangled as she had visible rope marks around her neck.
Chepkonga added that a manhunt for the husband who is the prime suspect had been launched adding that the whereabouts of the couple’s son was still unknown. The body of the deceased was moved to Kitengela Sub-county hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
