A man has succumbed to a gunshot injury at AIC Kapsowar Mission Hospital after he was shot at Kachesheban village, Kapyego ward in Marakwet West.
Confirming the incident, Marakwet West OCPD Bosita Omukholongolo said investigations have been launched to ascertain the circumstances leading to the deceased being shot.
“We are also investigating how the suspected illegal firearm came into the village or if the suspect is from a different region,” said the OCPD.
Omukholongolo said that the medical report indicated that the bullet shattered two ribs and went through the lungs causing excessive bleeding which was the cause of death.
He appealed to the members of the public to help in identifying the culprit of the shooting incident and help in the mopping up of illegal firearms exercise which is ongoing.
In the past three weeks, two people have been killed with other two being admitted to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret with serious leg wounds as a result of being shot.
