Laikipia youth sensitized on effective career choices

Laikipia youths had an opportunity to make informed career decisions, through a three-day career expo held at Cedar Mall Nanyuki.

Powered by G-Smart Events and Marketing Solutions Limited, the youths streamed in large numbers to enquire about career choices as they planned to join different institutions across the country.

Dennis Karanja, a form four leaver from Sweetwaters secondary school, said he found the expo to be informative and eye opening.

He added that choosing a course in line with his aspirations could be challenging especially for those who would like to venture into software and web design.

“I am glad to have attended the expo because I have been advised accordingly. I am now ready to join college and build on my future career,” Karanja said.

Moringa School Outreach and Events assistant Steve Biko said they decided to participate in the expo to reach the youth and provide extensive guidance on the courses they offered.

Moringa School is a tech-based learning institution that focuses on blending technical education with life skill development and practical experience.

“We are planning on opening a branch in Nanyuki and the expo has come in handy in assessing our market needs and demands. Moringa School is a learning accelerator and accommodates both university graduates and learners who have completed secondary education,” Biko said.

Director of Marketing and Business Development at G-Smart Events and Marketing Solutions Limited Ms. Felista Wairimu said the career expo aimed at showcasing top colleges and universities in Kenya.

Ms. Wairimu added that the expo provided parents and students with an opportunity to gather information from the different institutions at the exhibition booths and select the best offers and education system.

“Through the expo, students get a chance to meet professionals and teams representing different institutions face to face and have their questions answered, making their career decision easy,” said Ms. Wairimu.

Among the institutions present were Kabarak University, Moringa School, Uzuri Institute, Tigithi Vocational Training Center, Zetech University and Cascade Institute of Hospitality.
