Kenya Kwanza Parties Clash Over stadium

A clash is looming between two parties affiliated to Kenya Kwanza Alliance coalition after they both put claim to hold their final rally at the Green Stadium in Bomet County.

The standoff is expected come to fore after United Democratic party brigade led by Governor Prof Hillary Barchok claimed that they had been issued with a police permit to hold the rally but their assertion was dismissed by their Chama Cha Mashinani Party counterparts insisting that their documents were forged.

Prof Barchok told off the CCM camp that they had gone off their campaign schedule as agreed in a joint meet on June where all parties in the county, including Amani National Congress were represented and presided over by the security agencies and Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Barchok claimed that the only permit that the CCM camp had acquired was meant for the launch of former Governor Isaac Ruto’ s official manifesto launch way back on June.

In a rejoinder, CCM party acting Secretary General Albert Kochei said their final mega rally was planned before and all the necessary permit sought and validly issued by the police.

Kochei said the supposed permit held by their competitors was a forged document.

He said the permit did not bear the police logo, the Officer Commanding Station’s signature forged and that the applicant was an individual who is said to be a campaign manager for the incumbent Governor.

He further poked holes on the UDA brigade terming term as naive in planning campaign due to lack of experience.

Governor Prof Hillary Barchok and Isaac Ruto battles for gubernatorial position in a zone recent opinion polls indicate to by 98 per cent affiliated to Deputy President’s UDA even though both parties were allied to Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

The police have not given a definite answer as to which camp was validly issued with permit to use the stadium in question.

Bomet County Police Commander Esther Seroney said she was to consult with the Bomet Central Sub County police boss Musa Omar Imamai over the matter.

Seroney however confirmed that whichever the party was to use the stadium, the security agencies were tasked with the sole responsibility of providing security during such meetings to avoid potential breach of peace.
