Gesami assumes Deputy Governor’s roles despite being rejected by the assembly twice

KNA  Confusion engulfed Nyamira County administration as the Governor’s special programmes advisor Dr James Gesami assumes the roles of Deputy Governor (DG) without due process.

This is after Dr Gesami represented Governor  Amos Nyaribo Wednesday during the Equity Banks’ Wings to fly scholarships launch at Sironga Girls high school where he read the Governor’s speech, a ceremony attended by several other senior government officials.

In the event of the absence of Governor and his deputy in an official function, protocol dictates that the County Secretary (CS) who was present in yesterday’s event would ordinarily have represented the executive where 74 needy pupils from Nyamira benefitted from the Equity Bank’s Wings to Fly Foundation bursaries.

Dr Gesami’s has been rejected twice after his name was forwarded as nominee Deputy Governor by the County Assembly’s appointments committee on grounds that he has not met the minimum integrity requirements.

Governor Amos Nyaribo later appointed him a Special Programmes Advisor as a case against his appointment awaits determination at the Nyamira High Court today.

The embattled ex-West Mugirango Constituency legislator will have to wait for a determination of the petition filed in Nyamira High Court to know the fate of his nomination to the Deputy Governor post today.
