KNA A former International Karateka from Samia Sub County has launched a campaign to ensure that his village Namboboto/Nambuku produces more football stars.
Wanyama Obisa started the process by donating two sets of uniforms to Young Rovers and Buradi football clubs with plans to cascade it to other clubs in the ward.
“Francis Baraza played in this field, (Buradi Primary) before AFC spotted him,” he said, adding that JJ Masiga passed through Lugala Primary school.
Obisa, a former National Karate coach urged the youth to embark on talent nurturing, reduce drug abuse and early pregnancies.
He further stated that there is a need for the County to allocate a budget for sports, adding that the move will keep the youth busy instead of engaging in destructive activities.
Football Kenya Federation Busia Branch Secretary General hailed Obisa for the initiative, adding that the federation will work with like-minded leaders to enhance football activities within the County.
Olita disclosed that the Federation will roll out women football across the County as soon as President Uhuru Kenyatta lifts the ban on sporting activities in Western and Nyanza regions.
Nangina ODM youth leader Lameck Baraza said that the County leadership should come up with county games involving various disciplines that will reduce idleness among the youth.
