Former Bonchari MP appointed Energy CEC

Kisii Governor James Ongwae, today appointed former Bonchari legislator Charles Onyancha as the new County Executive Committee (CEC) Member-In-Charge of Energy, Environment, Water and Natural Resources following approval by the County Assembly.

Previously, Onyancha was elected to represent Bonchari Constituency in the National Assembly in 2007 under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket and served for a period of five years.

Speaking during the function held at Kisii County Headquarters, Governor Ongwae said Onyancha was highly qualified to take over the position, having worked in various government and private sector organizations, including serving as Bonchari Member of Parliament (MP), Member of Chartered Institute of Insurers of the United Kingdom, Chairman of the Central Tender Board and Chief Accountant of ALICO Insurance Co, among other professional and academic achievements.

“Mr. Onyancha, Karibu Kisii County. You have a short period to turn things around. I wish you the best as you come in and hope that your colleague Ministers will be able to support you as you work together very closely,” said Ongwae.

Onyancha expressed his gratitude to the County Government for the appointment and vowed to carry out his duties diligently as expected.

“I am very grateful and glad to be back home and that my last few years will be dedicated to giving support to my own County,” Onyancha said.

The position fell vacant after the former CEC for Energy, Dr. Skitter Ocharo, was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer at the National Cohesion and Integration Commission.
