The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee has imposed sanctions on FKF Premier League Clubs, AFC Leopards, and Gor Mahia for failure to honor the FKF Premier League match no. 260, which had been scheduled to be played on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at the Thika Stadium.
In a statement to newsrooms, FKF General Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Barry Otieno said, AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia have both been fined Sh 6 million and Sh 4 million respectively and sanctioned in accordance with article 3.1.6 of the rules and regulations governing Kenyan football, which states; In the event that a team or both teams in a scheduled fixture fails to turn up or turn (s) up for the match but refuse(s) to play, either team or both shall be docked three (3) points and two (2) goals from those already accumulated or those to be accumulated. Additional sanctions may be imposed on the team (s).
The FKF National Executive committee has also provisionally suspended both AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia chairmen Dan Shikanda and Ambrose Rachier respectively, for bringing the game of football into disrepute, pending the hearing and determination of the matter, by the FKF Disciplinary Committee.
