Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony, Korir who is the Transcend Sports Academy President and the former Boston Marathon gold medalist said this will be a relief for residents in Trans-Nzoia, noting that there was an increase of eye problems cases in the country

The facility will also reduce the cost of transport for those seeking the service at Kitale county hospital which is quite far for some eye patients,” he noted.

“A report released sometimes back shows that poor performance by students in schools is sometime contributed by poor eyesight while in class and this is going to help screen the school going children to help avert the problem, “he said.

This is one of the biggest projects in the region that will serve beyond Tran-Nzoia county including the counties of West Pokot, Elgeyo Marakwet, Turkana and parts of Uasin-Gishu.

Korir added that apart from the improvement of the eye health care in the county, residents of Cherangani constituency will be advantaged as they will benefit more through the creation of job opportunities during the construction.

“The hospital will create employment opportunities among many other opportunities that come with the hospital,” submitted Korir.
