Deputy President William Ruto is finally set to graduate with a PHD from the University of Nairobi this Friday, 21st December 2018.
The DP is scheduled to graduate with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Plant Ecology. DP Ruto will be graduating alongside six others and will now be referred to as; H.E. Dr William Ruto .
In addition to acquiring the “Dr” designation to his name, the DP will have met all the requirements needed to become a lecturer at the university.
Ruto’s PhD thesis, which he submitted in September this year was titled ‘Influence of human activities on land use changes on environmental quality of riparian ecosystems: A case study of Saiwa Swamp watershed, Western Kenya’.
He has already published his work in two renowned journals, International Journal of Research in Environmental Science and Asian Journal of Water, Environment and Pollution, as required by the Commission for University Education (CUE) which regulates university education.
The 60th graduation will cover students from the Schools of Health Sciences and that of Humanities.
In 2016, Mr Ruto failed to graduate after failing to meet all the requirements for the coursework.
He already prides in his Bachelor’s degree in Botany and Zoology and Masters in Plant Ecology and he has been on record several time encouraging students to further their studies.
Among those who will be graduating with the DP with PhD are; Victoria Ameoliza Gioto, Victor Muya Ndambuki, Cheronoh Fancy, Museleku Erastus Kiita, Jacob Kwamina Dodoo and Samso Samuel Ogallah.
The Deputy President will join the less than 10,000 PhD holders in the country and the estimated 370 to graduate in 2018.
