Discipline your children, parents challenged

Transport Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) Wavinya Ndeti has urged parents to take time during holidays and impart morals in their children.

She encouraged parents to wholeheartedly help in instilling discipline in children for it is a collective responsibility and thus requires commitment from both parents and teachers.

Speaking at Kitwii Catholic Church in Kangundo Sub-County during a fundraising service, Wavinya said that parents should show equal treatment to their children regardless of their sex noting that some children feel frustrated when parents do not show interest in their wellbeing.

“Let us treat our children equally regardless of their sex because they are all important, we should not allow our children to start feeling that they are lesser human beings. As parents we should speak in one voice in impacting the lives of our children positively from all dimensions, we should not only burden the teachers but act as the first mentors to our children,” she said.

Wavinya recalled the razing down of school dormitories and cautioned students to desist from that primitive act to avoid burdening parents with rebuilding the structures.

“Stop burning down schools since it is another huge responsibility to your parents to rebuild them. Let us mind the wellbeing of our parents,” she stressed.

Early this month the government announced that schools ought to break for half-term from November 19 to November 23 in order to ease the unrests in schools.

A number of schools in the country had witnessed fire incidents most of which were started by the students themselves.

Katelembo secondary, Mwala girls high school, Machakos girls and Katangi boys are among the schools that were affected by fire in Machakos County.
