County Government Offices closed in Kisii following Covid-19 spike

KNA      Kisii County Public Health Department has closed Masimba government offices in Nyaribari Masaba sub-county for 14 days after Suguta General Stores at Masimba market became a Covid-19 hotspot.
In a letter sent to the public, the Sub-county Public Health Officer, Mr. Ibrahim Nyachae, indicated that the wife of the owner of the store succumbed to the virus while the spouse is under the Home Based Care while two workers testing positive for the virus.
Speaking on phone, Mr. Nyachae said that the decision to close the offices was to keep workers safe from Covid-19 as they prepare to fumigate the area.
“The store is very close to the offices and sometimes it supplies drinking water to the offices,” he said.
Mr. Nyachae indicated that the closure of offices would be effective as from June 29, 2021 to July 15, 2021.
This follows the National Government’s restrictions on physical worship services, social and political gatherings, and revision of curfew hours from 10pm-4am to 7pm-4am in 13 counties of western Kenya, Kisii being one of them.
Kisii County Government had recently closed churches in Birongo Ward, Nyaribari Chache Sub-county after some members tested positive for the virus.
