KNA Machakos County Police Commander, Issa Mohammed has attributed Community Policing to the remarkable reduction of crime in Mwala Sub-county and its environs.
He commended the police and residents in the area for their efforts in embracing Community policing, which he said has helped the youth to reduce crime and has positively impacted in the neighbouring towns.
Mohammed said that they have solved murder, defilement and other serious crimes through community policing and encouraged the police and the residents to maintain their unity.
“Community policing is in the forefront in solving murder and defilement cases, I am very happy to be associated with this community and grateful to the work you have all united to do, to steer this community to greater heights,” said the County Commander.
Mohammed added that the goal of community policing is for police to build relationships with the community, expand partnership in all government agencies and improve public safety by reducing crime. This will improve people’s attitude toward police and increase their trust in law enforcement.
Mohammed noted that instead of strictly focusing on law enforcement activities, the police sector should also focus on Service Style which is focused in providing needed services to residents and business owners.
Last year, Dr. Ezekiel Mutua the CEO of Film Classification Board (KFCB) during the launch of the Mwala Community Policing Committee in Masii town said that development cannot be achieved if there is no security.
Dr. Mutua said the community has the responsibility to provide police with information concerning crime to enhance security in the country and pledged the board’s support towards the initiative.
“KFCB is proud to associate with and support initiatives like the Masii Community Policing Program that is geared towards enhancing security in our country,” said Dr. Mutua.
