KNA Businesses in Kericho Town was brought to a stand-still for the better part of Thursday afternoon when irate residents took to the streets in demonstration as they escorted the body of a police officer who was murdered by the late Police Corporal Caroline Kangogo.
The mourners who chanted songs and waved twigs escorted the convoy carrying the late John Ogweno to his former estate Nyagacho at the outskirts of Kericho town for viewing of his body.
“He was our hero and the one who committed this heinous act will be answerable to God” An emotional resident shouted.
Area Member of County Assembly Mr. Eric Bett described the deceased as a good friend and a dedicated police officer who worked diligently for the service of the people. He also eulogized him as an astute businessman who served people with integrity and excellence.
“He was a friend to many here in Kericho for the many years he worked here before being transferred to Nakuru County and we will greatly miss him” said Mr. Bett.
The body of the late Ogweno will be laid to rest at his home in Oyugis, Homabay County on Friday (23rd July 2021).
It is reported the late Corporal Kangogo shot and killed Ogweno in his car parked within a police station in Nakuru early this month. She, afterwards, fled with his Ceska pistol and later that same day emerged in Juja where she, yet again, shot and killed another man in cold blood.
Meanwhile the Corporal Kangogo’s lifeless body was discovered in a bathroom at her parents’ compound in Anin, Elgeyo Marakwet County on last week Friday, with authorities reporting that she may have committed suicide.
