Eight people sustained serious injuries when two vehicles collided head on before landing in a ditch along Wote-Machakos road on Sunday afternoon.
The 1.35pm accident which occurred at MaviaMeu area when a motor vehicle registration No. KBU 854U Nissan X-Trail driven by Brian Mbeya Tabu (45) while evading hitting a cow collided with a matatu registration No. KDB 970U Toyota Hiace coming from the opposite direction which was being driven by Peter Nyamai Wambua (35).
The injured passengers who were in the matatu sustained head, leg injuries and chest pain and were rushed to Mukuyuni hospital for treatment.
“The accident occurred when the driver of the Nissan X-Trail lost control after he evaded hitting a cow that was crossing the road. As a result, he veered off his lane and collided with the matatu that was headed for Wote town from Machakos,” said Makueni County Police Commander Mr. Joseph Ole Naipeyan while confirming the incident on Sunday evening.
He disclosed that the extensively damaged vehicles were towed to Kola police station awaiting inspection.
