At least 257 healthcare workers in the country have so far tested positive for the new coronavirus.
In a press briefing on Wednesday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe confirmed the number.
” It is important to note that among those already exposed to the virus are our healthcare workers who continue to work under difficult conditions and circumstances as they offer critical service to our people currently 257 healthcare workers have fallen victim to the virus, ” he said
The CS further added that the government is committed to protecting its frontline workers by providing them with the required equipment as they battle with the virus.
” There can never be a higher level of individual sacrifice than this. As a nation, we are indebted to you!”
In a bid to boost the capacity of medical personnel the ministry of health has employed 252 more healthcare workers from all cadres
As of July 9, the country had 8,528 confirmed cases of coronavirus after 278 more patients tested positive for the disease.
